PVC Foam Boards is Lightweight
Unifoam PVC foam boards with a density of 0.4-0.6 g/m3 are noticeably lightweight compared to MDF and wood with a density of 0.75-0.9 and 0.6-0.9 g/m3, respectively.
During the manufacturing process, the density of foam boards can be adjusted by controlling the level of carbon dioxide bubbles formed at the cross-section of the board. The strength of the foam boards is directly related to the hardness of the layers above and below the section. So, the manufacturing process is adjusted so to combine strength and lightweight.
The following table shows a comparison of the density of foam boards and similar products.
